Thanks for a great article - I would say that no matter how attractive something is in terms of design it won't matter if the target market doesn't have a use for it. Likewise, if users are faced with several options in terms of a product, they are more likely to be attracted to the better designed one. Design and usability are linked.

Design will ALWAYS be the difference. All else can and will be substituted by computing power and A.I. in the near future. We as humans are the only ones that can create design (as designers) and appreciate design (as users). As technology becomes "smarter" lots of tasks will be done by machines, but I am sure that design will always remain human.

Excellent example of how culture affects business. UPS was a good example of a company which based a lot of their business practice on culture and delegating useful information to their customers easily. Though the design aspect of their web interfaces may not be mirrored with an intention for impact through user experience, the technology which drives it is certainly a display of how a company meets the needs of their customers, with a hard line to the point.

Great post. The part that really resonates with me is how good design and UX can relieve the burden on marketing. It's a great case for user-centered product development.

Very great article! I agree that design plays a very important role in business. One good example is apple, we can see how they are vert particular when it comes to design.
